Sequel to the threat posed by Fulani herdsmen in the country but especially in Central Senatorial District of Cross River State, a dire security situation that has incited royal fathers to call for help, Cross River-born social commentator, Prince Thomas Abi Jr, has joined voices with royal fathers in Cross River central to take the security threat of Fulani herdsmen seriously. Read what he had to say yesterday.

'Cross River Government Must Rise Up To The Call Of Royal Fathers On The lingering Security Situation In CR Central

The government of Cross River State must wake up to the call of protecting the  lives and property of the law abiding citizens of the State.

I just read on the AIT news portal of a news story of 26th February of the cry by " Cross River traditional rulers cry out over automatic weapons carried by cattle rearers".

The government of Cross River State must immediately listen to the out cry by the royal fathers over the threat to life by the fulani herdsmen in the central senatorial district of the State who are illegally grazing on their farm lands.

We must not let this matter die a natural death. A situation whereby  fulani herds men carrying automatic weapons are threatening to kill the law abiding citizens of the area due to the numerous complains that the cattles are grazing on their crops is unacceptable and must be investigated.

The cry must not be taken likely. In recent times we have seen the senseless, mindless, barbaric, callous killings taking place in Agatu nation. And we can not afford to allow such crisis take place in  Cross River State.

The State government must as a matter of urgency look into the situation of fulani herdsmen threatening Cross Riverians with weapons such as guns and other dangerous weapons aimed at taking the lives of our people.

The government of Cross River State, must swiftly work out measures in controlling the loggerheads between the cattle rearers and the royal fathers before the situation gets out  of hand, putting our State in turmoil and great security risk.

The Office of the State Security Adviser to the governor, must as a matter of urgency speedily investigate the lingering crisis between the fulani herdsmen and the royal fathers in the Central Senatorial district  and work out necessary solution to the problem.

We can not afford to experience the kind of killings taking place in Agatu nation by Fulani militias in Cross River State.'

This press outfit is calling on the state government especially the Office of the Governor via the State Security Adviser, Mr. Jude Ngaji, to appraise the security challenge these ethnic lot pose and evolve measures to effectively and efficiently curb it.
