What is leadership without impact? What is representation without carrying the people along? These and many more has been the question on the lips of so many Cross Riverians especially the people of Abi in time past.

Abi State Constituency is about to experience a major turn around as her state house of assembly member is set to introduce a new constituency development strategy, which is tagged “Abi State Constituency Development and Citizens Agenda Policy”.

This policy is citizen oriented as it is formulated and well-structured to meet the specific and heterogeneous need of her people, which comprises of 10 council wards. The agenda/ policy have the following key focus as its objectives:

*Community need assessment
*Inspection of on-going projects
*Identification of new projects
*Town hall meetings.

The Abi State Constituency Development Strategy programme, which is programmed to kick start April 2016, would have the local council wards as its primary focus, where it is expected that at the end of the programme each council ward should have had two (2) series of such meetings each, which is structured in a town hall meeting like nature as a feedback mechanism. And at the different council ward’s meeting, each ward’s programme would be unveiled as it could differ from ward to ward, as it regards the heterogeneous nature of the people and their needs.

This programme is so structured in a way that at the tail end of three (3) years, a total of twenty (20) series would have been held, from the ten council wards twice per each ward. The first phase and series is billed to commence from Ebom-Ebijakara Council Ward from the second week of April.

With these people-oriented and well-structured programme coupling with other already running programmes such as the youth entrepreneurial initiatives, constituency projects and the list of enviable and developmental projects, every well-meaning sons and daughters of Abi will indeed agree with me that Abi state is on a steady path to development and progress. We must give kudos to the House of Assembly member representing Abi State Constituency, in the person of Rt. Hon. John Gaul Lebo for such an initiative.

Once again this is one of my apolitical write up on grass root development initiative. It is an informative piece, and should be seen as so, as the writer remains a rational and apolitical social economic critic.
