Yesterday 26 April, Barr. Okoi Obono-Obla, who in association with Association of Cross River Online Journalists (ACROJ) initiated a suit against the alleged corrupt practices of financial relevance during the Sen. Liyel Imoke’s administration of the state (May 29, 2007—May 29, 2015), took to his timeline to give an update on the news. This is what he had to say,

'Today I visited the Economic Governance Unit of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Office in Garki Abuja to submit fresh documentary evidence I recently gathered concerning the massive looting and plundering of the resources of the People and Government of Cross River State from 2007 to May 2015 .

I was in the company of my lawyer Chief Utum Eteng. We were well received by the Officer in Charge of Investigation.  He said the EFCC has made substantial progress in the investigation of the case. He informed us that the EFCC has gathered tonnes of documentary and forensic evidence in the past ten months in the case. He said 18 case files in different aspects of case have been opened by the EFCC. He said very soon the EFCC would arraign suspects in Court.

In the course of ensuring that justice is done, the former Governor Imoke sued me for defamation in the High Court of Lagos State in April 2015 . The matter is before Justice Taiwo and is scheduled for hearing in May 2015'.
