The ICT Commissioner, CRS Chief Offu E. Aya who is presently in China in view of fast tracking the materialisation of Gov. Ben Ayade's Smart City Project has, through his media aide, Prince Adjah Adjah, sent in his Democracy Day Message to the peace loving people of Cross River State, both in the Nigeria and the diaspora.

Amongst other things, Commissioner Aya opines that the full implementation of the CRS Smart City Project will pre-eminently entrench the culture of democracy in Cross River. What follows are his exact words:

Democracy is all about good governance, full participation of the citizens and development.

It is in pursuance of these goals that the amiable digital governor of Cross River State, Senator Ben Ayade, decided to send some of us at a very high cost to China to follow up the implementation of the CRS Smart City Project which is going to enable and catalyse development in the state and beyond.

So far, he has involved everybody, including enemies in governance and has embarked on so many life touching projects that all of us keep wondering what the state will look like when we will be celebrating this day next year.

He has frontally attacked poverty, unemployment, inferiority complex, disunity, insecurity among other city diseases.

He has come at the best of time to liberate the state from extinction and it is God that prepared him for this period where the state is cash strapped and in dire need of alternative sources of surviving outside oil.

At the National level, there is a lot of efforts to change our mindset from looting and other corruptive lifestyle to embracing decency and transparency.

Insurgencies are high but government efforts to counter them are commendable. In all, there is great hope for the country but we need a little patience to start tapping the benefits of present sacrifice.

Chief Offu E. Aya
ICT Commissioner
Cross River State
