Former Senate leader and the Chairman-designate of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba alongside a retired Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Commission (NNPC) and Cross River State governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the 2015 general elections, Mr. Odey Ochicha will headline the launching for the CRUTECH alumni centre building.
While Ndoma-Egba is to chair the occasion, Ochicha on the other hand will grace the event as the chief launcher.
The launching, billed to hold on Saturday, July 30 by 4PM at Transcorp Hotels, Calabar, will be attended by top politicians, scholars and big shots from the oil and gas sector.
To grace the occasion from the oil and gas sector are, Comrade F.O Johnson, President, Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), Comrade Igwe Achese, President, Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) as well as General Manager, Material Management division, NNPC, Barr. Musa Lawan who is a Special Guest of Honour.
National President of the association, Mr. Eyam Abeng said that all is set to bring the who-is-who in Cross River to the event.
He noted that although CRUTECH graduands are yet to break even like their sister university which has produced top government officials and captains of industries, the association is determined to leverage on her contact to attract people who will invest in the institution.
Abeng maintained that no university can seriously develop without support from her alumni therefore urged all products of the university to support the course by contributing to their alma matter.
The President equally appealed to graduands of the defunct polytechnic, Calabar (PolyCal) to work with CRUTECH alumni to contribute to the development of the institution.
According to him, "It's time our brothers who finished from the then PolyCal that metamorphosed into CRUTECH support our dream of giving back to our alma matter.
"Although it's now CRUTECH, we still see them like part of us. In fact, there is a provision for their recognition in our constitution therefore I want to use this opportunity to appeal to them to come out and support the project".
While appealing to well meaning Cross Riverians and Non Governmental Organizations to invest in the institution, he said that "We want to call on corporate bodies and NGOs operating in the state to consider carrying some project in CRUTECH as part of their corporate social responsibility".
