Information reaching Negroidhaven.org indicates very strongly that President Muhammadu Buhari has included a Cross Riverian, presently the Special Adviser on Prosecution to the President, Chief Okoi Ofem Obono-Obla, as a Non Executive Commissioner (South South) of Nigerian Communications Commission in accordance with Section 8(1) of the Nigerian Communications Commission Act 2003.
Others nominated as Non-Executive Commissioners are: Aliyu Sa’idu Abubakar (North East), Clement Omeiza Baiye (North Central), Pastor Ezekiel Yissa (North Central) and Senator Ifeanyi Ararume (South East).
Other nominations contained in the 2 August presidential communication to Bukola Saraki, President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria where confirmation for offices such as Chairman, Executive Commissioner. Thus, Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye (South West) was nominated as Chairman, while Mr. Sunday Dare (South West) got the nod as Executive Commissioner, Stakeholders Management. These nominations where sent to the Senate for confirmation.
Meanwhile, commendations and congratulations are streaming in from all quarters both to Mr President and the nominee, Obono-Obla. Notable among which is Social Commentator Simon Utsu who on his social media account noted that 'I went through the list(as usual) and what was of interest to me was the commissioner representing the south-south geopolitical zone. Once again, Mr President made his choice from Cross River and a well deserved one for that matter. Chief Okoi Obono-Obla who has been a steadfast lieutenant of the President from day one was his pick'.
'Chief Obla who is currently an SA to the President is a thoroughbred and astute lawyer who learned the ropes under the legendary Kanu Agabi. He has been a consistent left winger and advocate of good governance over the years – right from the time of the Obasanjo administration', he continued.
'He's very capable and I foresee him taking his grit, astuteness and industry to the NCC to shake things up and turn things around for the better. I wish him the very best', Utsu concluded.
