The incumbent Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, was quoted as above, during a Governors' forum held in Kaduna in which the former CBN Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo did criticise the economic policies of the APC led administration with particular mention, Pres. Buhari's policies of economy which he (Soludo) argues is to my mind 'old fashioned' lacking pragmatic substance.

Prof. Osinbanjo who was also in  attendance at the African Leaders Summit, responded thus:

“One of the major problems is with our ability to do things. Nigeria is not a place where there is a shortage of ideas or shortage of intentions. The issue really is getting things done.”

For him( Prof.Osinbanjo),  some of the issues plaguing our dear country may not be resolved within months or even years, but it sure will.

In his words,

“…we are called upon at this time in history to make a difference. And I believe that the times call for creativity, innovation, but more importantly these times call for depending on each other and looking to each other for solution.

“We cannot operate in silos; we must be able to look to each other for development. I think the solution lies in what is going on in several different states.”

However,  Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State, in his remarks alluded to the Vice President's position by presenting an emotive argument one begging for sympathy:

His words:  “Nigeria is facing an unprecedented economic crisis, most of it arising from circumstances of the present and of the past.

“The worst job in Nigeria today is to be a state governor because we have to deal with inherited problems, which we have a duty to solve. We need a fundamental shift from the ways things were being done in the past.”

We are not ignorant of the fact that the nature and science of Leadership is tactful, stressful and turf, we however request for sincerity of purpose and fulfilment of promises by all those in the corridors of power who during manifestos had promised to ameliorate the suffering of the masses.

We can only hope that they do what has been promised. I believe this is not a request too difficult to ask!
