“My stomach was stitched, but [I was] discharged two days later and as I speak with you, I am still feeling intense pains on the spot where the doctor stitched and was mandated to report daily to the hospital for check-up and further treatment.”

The above statement was made by the victim Samson Akase 20 year old, who was stabbed by a Barcelona fan Azubike, after Barcelona thrashed Celtic 7-0 September 13 at the Uefa Champions League competition. The altercation between the both fan seemed to have occurred way back September 13 as they were both separated by other viewers at the scene.

Two days after the heated arguments, Samson said he was alerted by a co-tenant of his that someone wanted him outside.
Samson, who had been asleep when he was called, said he arrived outside and surprisingly came face to face with Azubike, not realizing that the man was still upset over their altercation over the match.  He said Azubike immediately pulled out a dagger from his pocket, stabbed him in the stomach and fled the scene.

According to him, he was then rushed by his neighbors to Gogoruwa Hospital for medical attention, and later to St Luke’s Hospital in Nomansland.

An anonymous person in the area reported the incident to Nomansland Police station. Which led to the arrest of Azubike, but was subsequently released on bail and ordered to report to the police station daily for further investigation.
