Dr Betta Edu

Efio-Ita Nyok|30 October 2016

On the 27 of October was the birthday of Dr. Betta Edu, the former Special Adviser on Primary Healthcare but now the pioneer Director General of Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency to the Executive Governor of Cross River.

Dr Edu, who has carved out a niche for herself as one of the fewest performing aides to Governor Ben Ayade, was celebrated by numerous people of sundry categories —young, old, professionals, friends, family,  colleagues and those whose lives she has affected especially as former SA but now DG.

In the wee hours of today, three days after her birthday, our celebrant thought it wise to appreciate her well wishers, but was short of words on how to express her gratitude to her innumerable fans. Albeit, she still said a big thank you. And has confessed that the birthday wishes is inspiring her to do more. Read her out:

'I have spent 72 hours thinking of how best to express my gratitude for the overwhelming show of love I received from virtually everyone. From a day before my birthday (26th October) up to this morning (30th Oct); birthday wishes, prayers and calls are still flooding in. At some point a friend advised me to call off the birthday because the internet was going to crash (lol who cares if it does).

'Search my heart, I am honestly so thankful to you all, for the wonderful write ups, for the DPs, PMs, unending calls, unending text messages, pings, tweets, to the beautiful present from my Boss and Mentor H.E. Dr Linda Ayade, all my Bosses in Government, including my wonderful  brother; the speaker of CRSHA, Exco members, fellow appointees, to the Lagos state Government, many media outfits that aired birthday wishes, to CHAI and NPHCDA who gave a standing ovation, to my dear commissioner for health who spoilt me for an hour since it was a working Birthday, to all my friends outside Nigeria that kept calling and sending in gifts, to all the Nollywood stars that celebrated me on their walls(I honestly thought I was a Nollywood star), my medical colleagues and very senior profs, all the heads of primary health care agencies in Nigeria, my exercise warriors, my beautiful family, my kids who sang on phone for mummy because she was out on the field working, staff from CRSPHCDA, the youths in CRS (you guys know we are in this together) and indeed everyone.

'Am so grateful. My God will celebrate you all in many ways. This is a grand motivation to do more. I will give all I can to see that humanity is better and that Health care is improved in CRS and Nigeria. Let's work together, let's keep the faith, God knows my heart, he has heard all your prayers and he will answer them speedily!

'I thank you all.', she concluded.

We at NegroidHaven wishes the birthday girl even the 'digital' DG a hearty birthday in arrears! Congratulations Dr Edu.
