Members of JUKEBOX, winners of the 2010 edition of star-quest competition may not have been heard together as a band in a very long while but certainly have neither vanished from the music scene nor see the band as no longer in existence. The competition organised by Nigerian Breweries’ star lager, had provision for vocalists as well as instrumentalists in the bands that were formed.
Speaking on this, Epanty Greg, the keyboardist of the group, who announced on his twitter handle (@eppyjukebox) and Facebook page (epanty jukebox) that he was releasing a new single tittled Na Grace, made this comment. He actually did the release a forthnight ago.
Na Grace is a new single from Eppy Jukebox. A blend of tight groove, sweet harmony and good lyrics, it expresses appreciation for the divine assistance in our daily lives.
Eppy is a member of the 2010 star-quest winning band, the JUKEBOX. He serves as keyboardist and spokesman. He derived his stage name from his first name – Epanty and his crew- The Jukebox.
Born in Cameroon to Nigerian Parents, he attended St. Patrick’s College, Calabar and the University of Calabar where he obtained a B. Sc in Biochemistry.
‘Jukebox is more than a band to us, it’s become a family, we are still a unit, still love the crew, still very much in touch, still have plans for the band and still cherish what we have’, he says.
‘It’s true we’ve not been heard since our first album, this is primarily because we’ve not been able to get the crew members together, like we used to. Some of us are either no longer in the country or are involved with musical projects that take us outside Nigeria a lot of the time.
‘Individually, we have several singles to our credit, and we are planning to do a few group songs which together will form our mix-tape.’
