The Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs under the leadership of Yakurr, Cross River-born Pst. Usani Uguru Usani is partnering with the European Union in view of bringing developments in the region. According to the Minister, the partnership is to sustain the drive of the NDSP components that will in the next couple of years initiate development in the area of nutrition, energy, power, water, etc. This has not been without the 30% counterpart funding of the 9 states governments of the region.

Hear the Minister out in his exact words as he dropped it on his Facebook timeline,

'Meaningful progress is being made in our partnership with the European Union; in the European Development Fund (EDF) and National Indicative Programmes, in realization of the mandate towards the development of the Niger Delta.

'The Niger Delta Ministry’s willingness to ensure the sustainability of the NDSP components (NDSP3 and NDSP4) programme prompts our creating a budget line for the EU-Water Support Programme in the 2017 budget proposal, and securing an office space to facilitate best collaboration between the Ministry and the EU.

'With the NDSP components programme, the next couple of years will improve our health, nutrition, sustainable energy and access to electricity.

'Special acknowledgements goes to the Niger Delta Governors who  have provided the counterpart funds of 30%.', he concluded.
