As the world mark this year's women day celebration, the Senator representing the Northern Senatorial districts, Senator Rose Oko has called for a greater women participation in politics and Governance.

She said this was necessary in order to bring about Gender parity.‎

The Senator who stated this during Senate plenary said, the role of women in Nation building cannot be over emphasised hence the need for Government to urgently consider creating a platform where women can be anything, anywhere at any time.

She used the Occasion to commend her colleagues who in one way or the other have deliberately floated empowerment programmes geared towards empowering women noting that, such gesture have done more than imagined.

On the theme for this year's event ' Be bold for Change' the Senator who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Diaspora and Civil Societies, described the theme as Apt considering the several misconceptions and victimisation the women have over the years suffered in a bid to contribute their quota to the society.

She however called on women to continue to do their part not minding the very many obvious challenges facing then towards bettering the Nation and the Society at large.‎
