NBM 40th convention to commence from today May 17 in Calabar

The 40th anniversary convention of the Neo Black Movement of Africa, a non governmental organization, is scheduled to  commence from the 17 May to 21 May 2017, in Calabar the capital of Cross River State. 
As part of the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the organization, and its 39th annual convention, the pan-African organization will be handing over a newly constructed building, made up of interrogation area, two holding cells built by NBM of Africa to the Cross River state police command. 
According to NBM the building is to support the infrastructure of the State Anti Robbery Squad in the Cross River State Police Command. Where these can also be as their contribution to the justice system as they have also donated in the past to the Nigeria Prisons and their ongoing pro-bono service.
The organization said this forms part of its commitment to improve the administration of justice and extension of the justice system in Nigeria. 
To this end, NBM expressed its appreciation to NPF, Cross River State command, for the collaboration and expects to have a long term relationship that will be in the best interest of Cross River indigenes and Nigerians.
Other activities slated for the convention include the 13th annual lecture with the theme; "Repositioning and Restoring NBM ideals for a better future".
In addition, the organization members will visit the internally displaced persons at their camps in Bakassi in "furthering of its humanitarian gesture of Social Justice and equality for all," and "to identify with them and also support them as part of its humanitarian project."
They will also be donating books, desks and chairs to schools in the state to support development of education in the country. 
Also, it will carry out a tree planting exercise to support the state government's effort towards managing efficiently, its forest reserves, the NBM said.
The organization had participated in the 2016 green Carnival where the Governor had announced that over 5 million trees has been planted by his administration.
Other activities will include a free medical outreach, courtesy calls to notable personalities, including the governor of the state and top traditional rulers and  novelty football match among others.
