NegroidHaven stumbled on the Honourable Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mr Asu Okan, recently where he graciously granted her an interview.

In this issue, we’ll be featuring what Commissioner Okang said about the Cross River State Job Centre in relation to the ongoing registration of Nigerians by the Federal Government on their social policy called N-Power. For the records, Mr Okang has informed that the Cross River State Job Centre will be registering young Cross Riverians at no cost on their part into the N-Power scheme. He has invited interested Cross Riverians to benefit from the opportunity. Excerpt:

NH: If you are saying that the Job Centre is basically about recruitment, we are aware that the Federal Government has come up with their social policy called N-Power. Is there any initiative, any programme by the state government to register…

Commissioner:  (Cuts in) N-Power for us is an indigenous programme of the Federal Government, in fact one of the most successful programmes of the FG I ever have seen because it’s actually working and you can find the people.

It’s not just about saying we are alleviating poverty and we are reducing, you can actually count the number of people per head, you can do a head count and that perhaps is one very successful story of the Buhari administration you can clearly point at so far by my own thinking.

Yes! For us as a government we have decided that we must key into that programme, in the interest of our people; yes the governor have done a lot.

In terms of creating more jobs in terms appointment for young people. But N-Power is a must for all Cross Riverians who are job searching. So, His Excellency the governor has directed the setting up of registration centers across the 18 LGAs.

Therefore the CRS Job Centre is one of the core centers but the difference with the CRS Job Center is that we are going to be doing it free of charge. His Excellency has released money for the equipping of the job centre; therefore, it’s almost as completed so what we have decided to do is to give out free internet services, we have 6 N-Power staff who a will be there to help you in the cause of your registration, we have put brand new scanning and photocopying machines just to ensure you don’t need to go to anywhere if you have issues of scanning or photocopying while you are in the job centre.

Young people of Cross River origin are advice to come to the CRS Job Centre and apply for the N-Power programme free of charge. We are kicking off on Wednesday immediately after the public holiday.

The N-Power programme free registration kicks off basically that is how we intend to kick start the job centre before the formal commissioning. His Excellency has also directed that we begin immediate recruitment of staff, that is, the front desk officers and head of Human Resource department.

Editorial: NegroidHaven will exclusively publish the full interview the Honourable Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mr Asu Okang, granted her tomorrow. It will be engaging.
