A Yala LGA Chairmanship aspirant in the anticipated local government elections in Cross River State, Mr Christopher Ogar, has described late Honourable Mark Ukpo as a gentleman, friendly and a nice politician NegroidHaven can say. According to the evolving politician, who made his mind known at the last week burial ceremony of the late gentleman, Ukpo wasn’t discriminative of politicians from other political parties different from his.
Mr Ogar admired late Ukpo’s disposition to be accommodative of all politicians irrespective of ideological divide.
According to him, ‘The statesman related with all parties members without keeping political enemies. Each time I visited Dr Ukpo when he was around at his Calabar residence, I must meet one leader or the other at his apartment that were not in his party. He was a nice politician to emulate. His friendship was across boundaries.’
He admonished politicians to build peace in view of development. He commended His Excellency the Governor of Cross River State, Mr Ben Ayade. His words, ‘This is the lesson for our new generation. Let’s build a peaceful political atmosphere that is endeared by development and not war. He was a gentleman to the core, he believed in the development of the society irrespective of the partly you belong.
‘I also commend His Excellency Prof. Ben Ayade for directing his aides to attend the burial and his commitment, that was astute indeed’.
