As part of the “Education for All Initiative” championed by the Neo Black Movement of Africa (NBM), the Western Region of the movement undertook the full sponsorship of five (5) awaiting trial inmates of the Ikoyi Prisons.
The National OC legal, Chief Aliu presented a cheque to the Deputy Controller of Ikoyi Prisons, Mr. Egwugu Julius who welcomed the gesture and appreciated NBM of Africa for their wonderful activities as regards the effectiveness and development of the Nigeria justice system. He described NBM of Africa as a leading crusader who indeed care about social justice and equity for all.
The movement’s spokesperson, Dr. Uyiosa said this is only the beginning of their continuous drive towards taking basic education to all and sundry. He said that their next point of call will be on how best the movement can promote education for the girl child in Nigeria especially those in poor communities.
The Western Regional Head, Engr. Gerald Azonobo stated that “We hope to do more in future as these awaiting trial inmates still have a right to education as guaranteed by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.
