Finland Gov’t includes Obudu New Yam Festival in National Activities, to attend Carnival 2017

Cross Riverians in the diaspora particularly Helsinki, Finland have secured an international cultural heritage exchange programme between Cross River and Finland NegroidHaven can say. In fact, Obudu New Yam Festival has been officially inducted. Again, there will be a Finland contingent at the Carnival Calabar 2017. 

Amb. Agim Godwin Apple & Meg Palamos conceived a beautiful initiative by organising the diaspora version of Festival of the First Fruits Harvest otherwise called Obudu New Yam Festival our correspondent has learnt. 


In Nigerian local time, it happened yesterday 2nd September. According to one of the organisers, Amb Apple, there’s a cultural heritage exchange programme between Cross River and Finland. As it stands, the new yam festival has been officially included into the Finland Timetable of Social Activities which will be marked every first Saturday of September. There’s going to be a Finland contingent for the Carnival Calabar 2017. 

Hear him put, ‘Greetings to the world, many thanks to God almighty and all friends and well wishers that supports the celebration of the Festival of the First Fruits Harvest, (Obudu New Yam Festival) which has been included in the Finland timetable of Social activities, marked to be celebrated in every first Saturday of September.
‘Dear people of Cross River State of Nigeria, this is how far you have gone in Cultural heritage exchange in the world. Finland is coming down for the Calabar Carnival, 2017’. 
This is quite impressive.
