The Eja Nla crooner, D'Banj, has been rated high again by Nigerian social commentator, Simon Utsu, as the later recently appraised the formers hit singles, namely, 'It's not a Lie' and 'El Chapo'.
For Utsu, the introduction of Wande Coal and Gucci Mane in El Chapo especially the centre stage they took, unlike others, was a turning point for D'Banj's singles. Even at that, for Utsu, Gucci Mane outperformed Wande Coal.
According to the music reviewer: 'I think it's safe to say that D'Banj's career is no longer on life support —the release of his new smash singles "It's not a lie" and "El Chapo". It took me time to take a liking to them —I grew into both singles without even knowing. Like in the former where Harrysong and Wande Coal take centre stage, Wande Coal and Gucci Mane also take centre stage in El Chapo.
'Many people gave Wande Coal 5-stars for his performance in the latter but I think Gucci Mane was the star of that single. I've never taken out time before now to listen to Gucci Mane, I always wondered why he was critically acclaimed in the music community but in El Chapo, I understood why —underneath his lazy/casual style of rapping there's a lace of genius —quite similar to how the late ODB(Ol Dirty Bastard, Dirt Mc Girts etc) did his rap.
'From both singles, I could deduce that unlike the D-Banj of old who always took the centre stage like a Prima Donna, the new D-Banj is like the conductor of the orchestra; he doesn't do the main singing but he controls the song. Welcome back Eja Nla'.
PSquare infighting…

Commentator Utsu also took a swipe at the ongoing quibbling taking place between independent squares in PSquare. He described the artistes as overgrown babies. Hmmm! So damming
His words, 'And is it true that overgrown baby twins, P-square have started their street fighting again? Don't they ‎know people no longer care?
'The last time, Governor Peter Obi and Aliko Dangote waded in to help settle your rift; I can assure you that this time, it's my Calabar brother, Vic O and Speed Darlington aka Pericoma Jnr that will settle your case. Bunkum and periwinkle!', Utsu concluded.
Do you agree with Utsu over D'Banj's singles? What do you think?
