Professor Eyo Etim Nyong has extended his goodwill to the people of Southern Senatorial District of Cross River state, Tuesday, in a Christmas courtesy tour to the All Progressives Congress chapters in the 7 LGAs that make up the district, NegroidHaven has learnt.
During the visit, Nyong told party faithfuls of the district that he has not come to declare any interest but has just come to thank party faithfuls in their respective chapters for keeping the party together until this very period despite the hunger in the land.
In his words, 'I have not come to declare interest for anything for now (although I have an interest, this is not the time for it). For now, I am here to celebrate Christ with you. I know the times are very hard, so whatever I can add to your Christmas celebrations no matter how little it may be, I believe it will go along way in making sure we all have a wonderful Christmas experience this season.
'Let's all remain hopeful that it will be well with us. When God answers our prayers we will all benefit from it', Nyong continued.
Nyong said he believes it is important for him to relate and associate with party faithfuls at the wards level because they are the people whom he believes can make his interest come true when the right time comes.
Speaking to party faithfuls in Akamkpa local government area, Nyong said, 'I recognise party structures as a frame work where anybody can express any interst, today I am not here to express interest, but I am here to relate with you and establish friendship. So, I think this Xmas period is the best time to establish friendship, that is why I have come with the little I have out of my sweat to add to whatever you must have also gathered for Christmas, so you can have a better Christmas experience this year, this is the little I can give from my sweat so please accept it in good fate.
While Addressing stakeholders in Akpabuyo, Prof Nyong disclosed that he has ancestral roots in Akpabuyo as he has come to re-establish linkages, and to encourage them to remain in the party,
'I have come here to re-establish linkages between us and to encourage you to remain in the party. I can assure you that this party will be in government in this state and that whatever we are suffering in the state today will soon come to an end. We will soon experience an inclusive government that will carry us all along.
Nyong said he started politics in the 90s and he has been denied office for very long not because his people do not like him but because those that have money use it to buy votes and turn things around. But we thank God that we have a government that is in power at the national level so he is sure those things won't happen again.
'I am here to thank you for beign here and I can assure you that you will have no regrets', He concluded
The APC chapter chairman in Bakassi LGA appreciated Prof. Nyong for remembering them, saying that this is not the first time Prof, I remember the people of Bakassi, that the first government road in Bakassi was courtesy of Prof. while he was a commissioner in NDDC. He said Prof is the father of the entire Bakassi people.
Earlier, Prof. Nyong had I thanked God for the opportunity to be back in Bakassi here. He said he has a deep passion and love for the Bakassi people he also sympathised with them for what happened to the real Bakassi.
Prof. boasted that while in office, until date he remains the only Government official who will always ride a boat to inspect the fish ports at regular intervals.
'I am here to felicitate with you in this Xmas. I pray for prosperity in this Land. I am. Here to acknowledge and respect you as the people holding the platform upon wish I will exhibit my skills. I pray for unity and oneness in Bakassi. Nyong concluded
Bakassi is no more a land of militancy its a land of peace. I thank all those who accompanied prof to Bakassi
We Need to Bring Back CRS
While addressing party faithfuls in Calabar South in a joint meeting of both Calabar south EXCO and their counterpart in Calabar Municipality, Prof Nyong recalled the good old days when he used to play about in the streets of Calabar along Edgerly road and its environs without any challenge of insecurity.
He admonished party faithfuls to join hands with him in restoring the serenity, cleanliness and security Calabar and Cross River State was known for.
In his words 'We need to bring back Cross River, we need to in particular bring back Calabar. This is not the Calabar I grew up in.'
Prof Nyong said he has come to recognise those that control the party at the grass root and to celebrate the season with them. 'I give you this recognition because you are the foundation of my party', he added.
In each of the chapter Prof Nyong visited, the chapter chairmen appreciated the distinguished professor of geology for not behaving like the conventional Nigerian politician, but has taken out of his little resources even at this trying period to felicitation with them at the grass root. They pledged their support for Nyong's future ambitions and prayed God grants him success and favour in all he does.
