Benue Killings: Police Arraign Six Herdsmen as Suspects.

You will recall that on January 2, 2018 just two days into the much anticipated new year, not less than 20 persons, including a pregnant woman were butchered in cold blood in Benue State – an attack purportedly carried out by the some Fulani herdsmen

Today being Friday, just few hours ago, Negroidhaven has garnered that the Police have arrested six amongst the culprit and that these suspects are now being arraigned before a Magistrate Court in the State.

According to our source, the members of the police force, had arraigned six suspected herdsmen before Isaac Ajim, the Magistrate Court 1 in the Markudi area of the state. The suspects were said to be connected to the killings of 19 farmers in Akor village of Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

Prior to this arrest, the state's Governor, His excellency Gov.Samuel Ortom had wept profusely having confirmed the killings and hereafter did condemn it as barbaric and inhuman.

Many Nigerians had in the same vein reacted with disdain to the gruesome killings of those innocent lives in Benue state.

Others also took to social media to condemn the killings while they called on the security agencies to bring the culprits to book.

President Muhammadu Buhari was not left out in the issue, as he during a broadcast yesterday, condemned the attack and ordered that the culprits be fished out and brought to face the full weight of the law.

However, NHB garnered that about 11 bodies and nine injured victims were received and were undergoing treatment in the Benue State University Teaching Hospital. Unfortunately, three amongst the injured died during treatment from the severe injuries.

"Meanwhile, another Fulani herdsman who allegedly violated the Open Grazing Prohibition Law is also being arraigned before the same magistrate.

The suspect, Ibrahim Adamu, was arrested by the police on December 28, 2017, while he was grazing openly with about 70 cows along Naka road in Makurdi."
