A Bill for the Establishment of Federal University of Technology, Ogoja recently scaled through its first reading at the floor of the House of Representatives NegroidHaven has learnt. The bill was sponsored by the Honourable Member representing Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency at the HoR, Mr Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe (JAJ) who incidentally is the Deputy Chairman House Committee on Tertiary Education Committee.
According to controversial social commentator, Mr Simon Utsu, the bill was hinted by a constituent of Hon Jarigbe, namely, Mike Udam, a teacher and religious leader. His words, 'What makes it spectacular is the fact that that idea was conceived by his constituent, the highly respected Teacher/Evangelist Mike Udam and proposed to Rep Jari who fine tuned it and now has given it its 'first lease of life' viz the aforementioned. I won't congratulate Representative Jari yet because it's not yet Uhuru; a major hurdle has been scaled quite alright but there's still much to be done before the university is birthed. But I will give him the thumbs up all the same for his unrivaled display of  consistency, ingenuity and clarity of purpose'. A constituent, Mr Egbelo Ntebri Edward has said, 'History will forever be kind to you!'.
While reportedly confiding in legal luminary, Firsts Baba Isa, Jarigbe has assured that, 'he will expedite action for it to get to Public Hearing. In his words, "It's work in progress in the right direction."
Second Reading for the bill will come up any moment from now and then the Committee will call for Public Hearing.
Recall that, Ogoja is one of the oldest provinces in Nigeria, with little or no Federal Government presence. Ogoja deserves a prominent chunk of the Federal Government development initiatives.
