BREAKING : Cross River certified LASSA Fever free!

The Honorable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Inyang Asibong, has received confirmation from the Institute of Lassa Fever Research and Control, Irrua, Edo State that the Lassa Fever samples sent have all returned negative.
The Commissioner has urged the State Epidemiologist and the Disease Surveillance Officers in the State to continue their work with every level of alertness even though the State has been certified safe.
Lassa Fever is an acute viral haemorrhagic illness that occurs in West Africa. It is transmitted to humans via contact with food or household items contaminated with rodent secretion.
Members of the public are by this advised to go about their normal duties, but should continue to practice good personal and environmental hygiene.
The Honorable Commissioner for Health has assured the general public that the health teams will continue to be on the alert despite the result and has commended healthcare professionals for their tenacity.
