30 March 2018
Earlier on 25th March, 2018. The house of Chief (Hon) Obeten Okong was razed by armed bandits dressed in police and SARS uniform in Etene Drive.
Surprisingly, the gate was not damaged and the animal security only barked once and went into oblivion. The said SARS cum police told the children of Mr. Okong that they were pursuing thieves but they ended up becoming thieves themselves.
These were men that were to offer protection to the citizens but turn out to wreck mayhem. This is indeed worrisome. The said uniform armed men with the aid of a jack removed the protectors and gained entrance into the house. The situation became funny when the uniform armed bandit stumbled on an identity card of Okong's children and from the name knew they were from Yakurr and they even spoke Lokaa language with them. One of the children who challenged them and their action was thoroughly beaten.
As if this was not enough, Ntufam Ita, Christian Ita's father (The Chief Press Secretary to Sen. Ben Ayade)  was kidnapped while returning from church. Again within Etene Drive, but succour came his way as the young man who dropped him off saw the scenario that played out and gave them a chase. He succeeded catching up with them and rammed into them destroying three vehicles altogether. A woman with her children also returning from church was affected.
The daredevil seeming that their game was up took to their heels. Unverified information has it that they ran away leaving their guns behind. However, men of the police force have been invited to the scene and Ntufam Ita is safe and sound.
This is the new Cross River State under the leadership of Sen. Ben Ayade the Governor.
