The All Progressive Congress, APC, has debunked reports and rumours alleging its recently conducted ward congresses were marred by violence, protests and irregularities.
Addressing newsmen at the party's secretariat in Calabar on Sunday, the state chairman, Hon. John Etim, stated that the party's ward congresses conducted in the 196 wards were generally peaceful and devoid of rancour, contrary to rumours being peddled around.
''The ward congresses in the 196 wards were peaceful. There was no violence. APC conducted peaceful ward congresses.'' he stressed.
Meanwhile the party state chairman has also commended the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government for the giant strides it has so far recorded in terms of massive project execution across the country.
He said, ''No one has ever believe it before that President Muhammadu Buhari is one trusted Nigerian that is able to drive this country to the destination it required.
''And having considered in these number of years his activities, considering developmental projects, in fact, let us look at even Cross River State, go through Calabar-Itu roads, they have all been repaired, and other projects are still ongoing nationwide.''
Hon. Etim therefore called on the people to continue to support the party in its resolve to bring impactful change in the country.
When queried for the results of the ward congresses, he said they would be released soon.
