The Cross River State Governor, His Excellency, Sen. (Prof.) Ben Ayade earlier today at the Yar'Adua Conference Centre, Abuja, received the award for the Best Performing State in Health, South-South, by His Excellency Prof. Yemi Osinbanjo, Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Cross River State Government over the years has been on the forefront in infrastructure and human capital development for the benefits of the State, her citizenry and its environs. This is evident in the developmental strides in the health sector which runs from the creeks of Bakassi to the heels of Obanliku, and on whose auspices the world gathered to celebrate.
"Today, we are gathered here to celebrate a victory well deserved and an award well received, and most importantly another level of challenge which is also very well accepted; as the greatest reward for hard work is the motivation to do more.
"The Cross River State Government will not rest on its oars in ensuring the State maintains its status quo as the most improved State in health, and hopefully go beyond the national level.
I thank you all on behalf of our vibrant and proactive health team for this recognition and we promise to do even better, God willing!" Dr. Inyang Asibong; Commissioner for Health
The award is in recognition of the effort by the State Government in combating diseases and health challenges in the State across board. Cross River State is unarguably the best State in the region with the track record of breaking new grounds and reaching new heights with the shrewdness and innovativeness of the highly competent workforce manning the health sector.
