Judicial staff under the auspices of Law Officers of Nigeria (LOAN), Cross River State branch are ready to embark on a peaceful demonstration today in view of registering their displeasure against the government of Cross River State NegroidHaven has confirmed.
This is despite the disposition of government to invoke the No-work-no-pay policy of the state government. According to a reliable source, the law officers decided on this protest because of the failure of government to implement the harmonisation of salary between magistrates cadre and law officers despite the promise of the governor in 2017.

According to the source who pleaded anonymity, 'We are marching from the Ministry of Justice headquarters to Governor's Office in respect of the conditions of service. In 2017, the governor did promise to harmonise the salary of law officers with that of magistrates. In fact, he said he's already done it, but, until now it will surprise you to know that there is no evidence of implementation.

'On his part, the Attorney General of the State assured LOAN of the inclination of the governor to implement, but, until now magistrates earn better pay than we, the law officers. We demand harmonisation'.

When queried pm why they ignored the no-work-no-pay threat, the source said, it's a peaceful protest, so, they will still embark on it.

Recall that Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) had on Thursday embarked on strike still on conditions of service. This says so much for the 'Labour-friendly Governor'.
