Diesel and petrol tankers lot located in residential area in Calabar

NegroidHaven has gotten wind of a GRA layout in Calabar where the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) diesel and petrol tankers have their park lot in a residential area.
The layout is located at Parliamentary Extension, after Northwest petrol station. Information made available to our news outfit suggests that the residential area was developed during the Gov Liyel Imoke administration between 2007 and 2015. But, the incumbent Gov Ben Ayade gave out a large chunk of the layout to NUPENG tankers as parking lot, even allegedly  reclaiming already paid for and allocated portions of land.
With the horrible Thursday 27 June petrol tanker explosion on Otedola Link Bridge inward Ojodu Berger along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Lagos where about 12 persons have been confirmed dead by the Lagos State Government and over 54 vehicles burnt, it becomes instructive for the Cross River State Government to relocate the tankers park lot off the residential area or relocate the residents off the lot (the latter I think is preferable as compared to the former). I understand, there’s a hanging bay in Odukpani, they should relocate there, and leave residential areas.

A source is quoted as saying, ‘We live in fear’.
Meanwhile, the Speaker Cross River State House of Assembly, Mr John Lebo, has directed both the Cross River State Safety Commission and the Commissioner for Transport to immediately relocate all tankers, trucks and heavy duty vehicles parking along the Calabar Murtala Highway, close to human habitation to the truck hanging bay in Odukpani.
