Following the rouse generated over the week by an alleged use of teargas on governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State by some policemen at the government house, Ado Ekiti, a media practitioner based in Calabar, Mr Efio-Ita Nyok, has at the weekend, told the People's Democratic Party, PDP, to instead protest against the abduction and continuous stay in captivity of Leah Sharibu, one of the Dapchi school girls abducted by Boko Haram insurgents, and has spent close to six months in captivity, even as other girls who were taken alongside her had since regained their freedom NegroidHaven can report.
Disclosing his position in a statement made available to NegroidHaven, Nyok berated the main opposition party in the country for being very insensitive to issues affecting the masses both at state and national levels, wondering why the PDP has not deemed it necessary to protest against the widespread killings, kidnappings, injustice, nepotism and poor standard of services rendered to the people by government entities, especially in Cross River State, where the same PDP controls the government.
He however described the latest action of the People's Democratic Party over the Ekiti incident as it involves Fayose and the subsequent militarization of the governorship poll in that state as self-serving, dishonest and deceitful.
''So, you could protest the condemnable militarisation of democracy in Ekiti gubernatorial elections…But, you couldn't protest the abduction of Leah Sharibu who's presently in Sambisa Forest with beasts, right?
But, you did not deem it necessary to protest the killings in Enugu, Taraba, Benue etc. Why hasn't the PDP protested the surprising degree of nepotism and cronyism in the present political administration in Cross River State?
''Don't you think it's necessary to protest the depth of arm robbery in Cross River, the daylight killings, the kidnappings, politically motivated assassinations and murder? When will the PDP in Calabar Municipality and Calabar South protest the poor outing in respect of services to the people by Cross River Water Board Limited?
''The extent to which the PDP, both national and in the State has failed to protest against injustice on the people in Cross River State and Nigeria at large, to that extent, we know that your disposition is dishonest, deceitful and out of sync with reality —be a people and democratic political party, not a people deceiving people political party.
Show us —Cross Riverians and Nigerians alike, some depth of humanity, and not be overtly interested in your 'stomach infrastructure', the statement reads.
