It is election time again and the clamour for political positions is already gathering storm. In no time it would be a din that many may be unable to make out the right people to send in for various elective positions in 2019. However there would be one whose pedigree would set her apart from the rest.
She is Mrs Mayen iyanya Mbuk, a retired Director with the Federal Civil Service. A highly analytical expert in policy formulation, Mrs Mbuk is performance driven and an entrepreneurial professional.
She holds a B.Sc in Chemistry from the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka and an M.Sc in Petrochemicals and Hydrocarbon Chemistry from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom.
She’s a strategic thinker and a fast learner who has served on a number of National Committees including but not limited to the Gas & Petrochemicals Sub Committee of the National Council on Privatization (NCP), Tariff Technical Committee- Federal Ministry of Finance. She’s a Fellow of the Institute of Chattered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON), Chemical Society Of Nigeria (CSN), and Polymer Institute Of Nigeria (PIN), to mention a few. Mayen has many publications and technical papers to her credit.
She hails from Obio Usiere, Eniong Abatim in Odukpani Local Government Area in the Southern Senatorial District of Çross River State.
Mrs Mbuk has courage and capacity to change the plight of her people to be self reliant and economically independent.
She has a track record of excellence and service that has touched many lives both as a public servant in the course of her service to her State and Nation and private life.
Over the years, Mrs Mayen Mbuk has proven herself to be a large-hearted philanthropist, a seasoned administrator and has been instrumental to the employment of a good number of Nigerians, Cross Riverians inclusive, in her time of service.
At a time like this there is no better person to represent the people of the Southern Senatorial District of the State from next year.
In her own words, “I am a technocrat and I have been in the believe that politics should be spiced by people who have pedigree and have demonstrated capacity and abilities in some ways”.
Mayen Iyanya Mbuk, with her background understands processes, systems and would be coming in with a style that has driven her successful civil service career which has contributed to the development of Nigeria in no little way.
Nigeria is in interesting times and is experiencing a shift, and the people of Cross River South Senatorial District needs a voice that is globally exposed, and understands the needs of the people to attract development to the people.
Mrs Mbuk comes from the staple of seasoned politicians, her father was late Obong B. A. Bassey and she is married to Etubom Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk, a member of the APC Elders Forum in Cross River State and Southern Senatorial District respectively. It would therefore be preposterous to downplay the political credentials of this amazon, whose education, charisma and other leadership pointers make her a perfect fit and stand her in a good position to run for the senate seat come 2019.
Mayen Mbuk is a ray of sunshine, you will notice that immediately she appears. She brings life to hopeless situations. She is a mentor par excellence, supports the course of womanhood, hates injustice and above all very God fearing.
Their marriage is blessed with children and grandchildren. In fulfilling one of her passions of grooming the complete child, she currently serves as the head of school, PrestigeHall International Schools, Calabar.
