The Chairperson of House committee on Local Government, Political and Chieftaincy Affairs, and member representing Yala 1 State Constituency in the 8th Cross River State House of Assembly, CRSHA, Hon.Regina Anyogo  chaired the public hearing on CRS Local Government (amendment) Bill 2018 with her House Committee Members on Wednesday.

Hon. Regina addressed all critical stakeholders (Members of the Judiciary,Local Government Service Commission,NULGE, HOLGAs, Ministry of Local Government Affairs and the Media) to make meaningful inputs  to enhance the quality of the bill and service delivery and administration at the grassroots level.

The bill seeks to amend and add the establishment of the office of HOLGA which will be equivalent to the office of a Permanent Secretary of the  State Public Service and HOLGAs shall enjoy all rights and privileges of the Permanent Secretary including Pensions.

The amendment also covers the appointment of HOLGA  by the Governor based on Seniority and experience, having spent 5years as Director with written and passed administrative and professional examination.

It was a convivial and interactive session among Committee members and Stakeholders which ended successfully with full assurance that it will scale Committee of the whole of the House and be read the third time,and subsequently passed into law soon.
