Determined to ensure Peace in Cross River state, the State Reconciliation and Integration Committee, earlier set up by Governor Ben Ayade is on a statewide tour.
The Efiok Cobham led committee is currently in the northern part of the state, where they have met with stakeholders from Yala and Obanliku local government areas.
The committee has met with traditional rulers and other stakeholders.
In the words of chief Peter Ojie, a member of the committee, "we are committed and determined to ensure our people live in peace and proffer solutions to our current challenges impeding peaceful coexistence in Cross River state."
It will recalled that the Executive Governor has been making frantic efforts to reunite the aggrieved members of the party particularly in respect of the just concluded Peoples Democratic Party PDP primary.
Former instance, Pathfinder Special Reconciliation and Integration committee led by Mr Ken Aklaah started work last week.
Last week, it lead some members of the committee to the homes of some of the aggrieved members, Chairman of the committee, Hon Kenneth Aklaàh, said we are one united family in Cross River state and we are reaching out to members of the party who are strong foot soldiers to reconcile them in the interest of our great party.
Aklaah,who spoke when members of the committee visited the secretary to the state government, Tina Banku Agbor in her home said the emergence of the special reconciliation committee is to heal the wound suffered from the rancour of the last primaries where some party members were not happy.
In His words:"we are committed to boldly addressing this issue while charging the SSG as a senior official of this government to forgive and forget her anger and return to duties with the sole aim of re-electing governor Ayade back to power in 2019".
"It would be embarrassing if because of your anger you work against the interest of PDP at your different areas." He added.
To this end, he urged her to come out of her retirement so that they would work for the reelection of Governor Ben Ayade and the party in the coming elections.
In her response, Tina banku Agbor thanked the committee for the initiative and assured the team of her best support for the governorship elections and the party.
Also speaking when the committee visited him, Jones Tamgban,who was DG of Chris Agara's campaign organisation thanked the committee for the visit.
He noted that "we are one big family and it is better to forgive your friend. we are all together, l love Ayade, this is the time to show him we really love him .it is the greatest sacrifice that we can make in spirit of true friendship and total loyalty."
In addition, he assured that no member of their group will leave the party.
The exercise is still ongoing as the committee has promised to work tirelessly and assiduously to ensure that every aggrieved member is reached out.
