No fewer than 15 different political parties under the umbrella of Coalition of Owan Friends of Political Parties (COFOPPAG), Thursday, adopted governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Cross River State as their consensus candidate for the forthcoming 2019 general election.
The coalition which was inaugurated today is made up of political parties such as Justice Must Prevail Party (JMPP), KOWA, People's Party of Nigeria (PPN), Mega Party of Nigeria (MPN), Change Advocacy Party (CAP), National Conscience Party (NCP), Coalition for Change (C4C).
Others are: Action Democratic Party(ADP), Action Alliance (AA), Mass Action Joint Alliance (MAJA), Democratic Alliance (DA), Better Nigeria Progressive Party (BNPP) and Alliance for Social Democrats(ASD)
Speaking on behalf of other governorship candidates of the various parties, the chairman and governorship candidate of Alliance for Social Democrats, Pastor Charles Okoi, said the coalition is instituted to respond to the cry and yearnings of the people for good governance. He assured the APC guber candidate of the coalition's total support in the forthcoming elections. Pastor Okoi said that God is displeased with the way things are going in the state, and to find a solution, the different political parties have decided to come together to form the coalition in support of Owan-Enoh, whom he described as someone God has chosen to change the narrative of bad governance in the state.
Responding, Senator John Owan-Enoh expressed gratitude to the coalition and thanked them for their collective resolve to adopt him as their consensus candidate.
He said: "Standing here I'm very proud of these men. I'm very proud that our state can still have people like them. They have been beseeched on all sides with mouth watering offers to do otherwise. But I'm proud they choose the love and interest of Cross River first. They refused to collect sign on fees… They look at the interest of the state as being bigger than their own personal interest.
"There is a grave danger ahead of Cross River if this government gets re-elected. I want everyone to save us and save our state the grave danger. Everything about this administration is laced with fraud. This administration's industrialization is the hugest fraud ever. It's too bad that all our resources are being syphoned and taken out of the country."
