PRESS RELEASE

OWAN ENOH DECRIES AND CONDEMNS VIOLENCE IN ETUNG
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State, Sen. John Owan Enoh, has decried and condemned in the strongest terms the widespread violence and killings among youths particularly in Bendeghe, Ekiem village in Etung Local Government Area of the state. He has condoled with families that lost their dear ones, appealed for the people to remain calm and resist all forms of provocation.
Sen. Owan Enoh believes that this pornography of violence is orchestrated and being stoked by his political opponents in his local government to give the wrong impression that it was instigated by him. But everyone knows that Sen. Owan Enoh has NEVER been linked to any act of violence ever since his involvement in partisan politics spanning over two and a half decades. A man of peace who promotes dialogue as a winning tool in social engineering, Sen Owan Enoh does not believe in the politics of "do-or-die" or the winner takes all.
Sen. Owan Enoh is a very strong and ardent promoter of the politics of decorum and peaceful transition. As a politician whose progressive and people-oriented scorecard is in the public domain for all to see, violence is NOT an option for him and MUST NEVER be contemplated by any stretch of the imagination. The astute leadership he has provided in the last several years has long taken Etung beyond what the present crisis suggests. Unfortunately, it does seem that there are determined and premeditated forces bent on taking us back. We must rise with one voice and say No to it.
While urging the security agencies to up their game and quell any form of violence in Etung and across the state, Sen. Owan Enoh has appealed to his opponents and all politicians in Cross River State to embrace peace and strive as much as possible to play the game of politics according to the rules, noting that without peace, development can only be seen in the dividing lines between savagery and barbarism. For him, peace is an important component of the democratic process.
