It was indeed a day of joy and unmistaken satisfaction for the people of Yakurr 1 State Constituency, as their son, Comrade Eteng Eteng officially flagged off his campaign and publicly declared his intent to vie for member representing Yakurr 1 State Constituency in the Cross State House of Assembly NEGROIDHAVEN can say authoritatively.
Poised to change the narrative of the Yakurr people in general to the better, Comr Eteng reiterated that Yakurr 1 is in dire need of effective representation borne out of participatory leadership that is people oriented.
Though not forgetting the elderly and infants, Comr Eteng emphasised the need for youths of the Constituency to be emancipated through human capacity development, industrialization, infrastructural development, etc to take charge of their future and better their immediate environment and the State by extension.
Inclining on the mantra: 'action speaks louder than words' Comr Eteng charged the people to give him their mandate and see for themselves the difference after the first four years. He, amongst other things, had as his footprint provision of the basic needs of Education, Water, Health, Human Capacity Development Industry and infrastructural Development for his constituents.
Giving their unalloyed support and invoking ancestral and royal blessings on Comr Eteng, the Obol Lopon of Ugep, HRH, Obol Ofem Ubanga and his Idomi counterpart, Obol Arikpo assured him that victory at the polls is a guarantee, adding that now is the time for a youth to be allowed to pilot the affairs of a better Constituency in the State House of Assembly and to bring the desired change to the people.
On his part, the clan head of Nti Nton Community, Ekori, Chief, Igri Effiom noted that it is a relief to know that for the first time in many years, emancipation of youths in Yakurr 1 will be a reality, noting that except the youths stand up to take over the affairs of governance, effective leadership will be a mirage. He however pledged his unflinching support and that of the Ekori people to ensure that Comrade Eteng is successful at the polls.
Highlight of the flag off was the presentation of the Young Democratic Party (YDP) flag to Comrade Eteng Eteng by a representative of the party leadership, Comrade Ashi Paul, State Secretary General YDP, Cross River State.
Also present at the event were: Hon. Dominic Agi; Comrade Walter Enya, State Youth leader, YDP; John Ayabie, State Financial Secretary, YDP; prospective member representing Akpabuyo State Constituency, under the YDP, Comrade Moses Edet; YDP Yakurr Chapter and Wards Executives, among others.
