A group of twenty five political appointees currently working with the executive arm of the Cross River State Government, CRSG referred to as Special Friends of Rt. Hon. Joseph Bassey nee Papa, Friday demonstrated their support for the third term re-election bid of the current member representating Calabar South State Constituency 2 into and Deputy Speaker of the 8th Cross River State House of Assembly NEGROIDHAVEN can say authoritatively.
The group who described themselves as political and committed believers of the Believe Project disclosed that they decided to support his re-election ambition with three thousand copies of exercise books because they believe that his re-election will bring more dividends to democracy.
They expressed optimism in his re-election at the polls come 9th March while charging political stalwarts of the three wards which constitute the said Constituency 2 will put in their best in ensuring his re-election ambition.
They said their happiness is inspired by the fact that Rt. Hon. Bassey's political involvement is basically instrumental to their appointment which is in tune with the state Governor's policy of putting-food-on-the-table.
According to the spokesman of the group, Charles Okon Kutman, 'Rt. Hon. Bassey strongly believes in education. Sometimes, in his empowerment he has given a lot of educational assistance to a lot of students. So, we the Special Friends of Rt. Hon. Bassey deem it for those of us campaigning in our various wards, unit, etc to go with this exercise books to the constituents.'
In his reaction, Rt. Hon. Bassey appreciated the group observed that he is quite surprised owing to the fact that he has not been lucky with being recipients of gifts, he is always in the receiving end. According to him, 'This move is very strange to me to see my brothers and sisters give me this gifts. This gesture means a lot to me since it suggests that people still appreciate good things and God.'
He informed that his campaign will commence in the constituency Saturday. He dedicated his campaign to the divine while informing that his going back to the House of Assembly will affect the constituency positively.
