Following the alleged adoption of Governor Ben Ayade by some members of the Social Democratic Party for the 2019 Governorship election in the State, members of the party from the Northern Senatorial District have distanced themselves from said adoption, saying they remain solidly behind Mr. Eyo Ekpo.
In a letter seen by our correspond, and addressed to the Secretary of the party through the Vice-Chairman North Mr. Morhpy Anthony, members of the party through their ward chairmen and secretary distanced themselves from the adoption; declaring instead that they have their Governorship candidate (Eyo Ekpo) and that he has their full support.
The members pledged “hundred percent loyalty to the party and candidates” and promised to work with all sincerity to ensure victory at the polls on Saturday.
It will be recalled that some members of the party had met with Governor Ben Ayade, where they allegedly endorsed him, but the SDP and the Governorship Candidate, Mr. Eyo Ekpo described the meeting as a “desecration” of the state executive chambers and a “scam”.
