The Government of Cross River State has commenced construction work for the completion of 60 meteres long Abim bridge along Okuni-Okoroba-Ekang road, Etung LGA NEGROIDHAVEN can say.
The people of southern Etung will have reasons to smile again as the years long clog in their wheel of progress will be a thing of the past by the recent moves by Sen. Ben Ayade the Governor of Cross River State to complete the 60 metres Abim bridge. This bridge links Okuni, Okoroba and Ekang road, all in southern Etung where the Senator elect, Ntufam Sandy Onor comes from.
The road, NEGROIDHAVEN was reliably told has been an abandoned project which started 50 years ago. The Mr. Donald Duke administration further the course of construction, a feat which Sen. Liyel Imoke harped on but their attempts could not leverage the pains of the people as nothing was done about the said bridge. What the people resorted to was the use of boats to ferry people and goods across.

Several attempts were made to the current administration of Sen. Ben Ayade together to come to their aid, and success smiled their way when the Governor approved the construction of the bridge. As at the moment of filing this report, work had already commenced on the 60metres long bridge at Abim River.
Speaking with NEGROIDHAVEN, Comr. Asu Okang, the Commissioner For Youths and Sports Development said he was short of words at this overture by the Governor and for even allowing direct labour to allow the young men the opportunity to benefit from the job. Re-echoing the Governor’s position of not providing enough for the citizens to request for taxes from them, the Commissioner said this was only a tip of the iceberg of the truest intentions of the Governor. This is just for artisans and unskilled labourers who have subjected themselves to very strenuous activities everyday to survive, this is a way of making them have a sense of belonging, a sense of partnership that government recognizes their abilities and requesting that they put it into use not for free but to have the opportunity of getting even a little from government and from what will benefit them.
The Commissioner promised to assist in every available indices within his disposition to ensure the success and completion of the job. Meanwhile, the youths are in joyous mood already at the development and delivering on every bit of the project.
