General Hospital Calabar receives a boost of an ultramodern eye theatre complex

The Cross River State Government, Lions Club International, Lions District 404 A2- Calabar Canaan City Lions Club and Tulsi Chanri Foundation have partnered to tackle eye-related infections, assist the public especially the less privileged to regain their sights through free eye surgeries and transplant; as General Hospital Calabar received boost of ultramodern Eye theatre complex.
Cross River State Government through the State Ministry of Health donated land to Lions Club International to build an ultramodern Eye theatre complex to boost the already existing Eye care center/clinic at the General Hospital which was inspired by the number of patients that storm the hospital daily.
Speaking during the commissioning of the Eye theatre complex, Hon. Commissioner for Health, Dr. Inyang Asibong who was recently inducted as a member of the Lions Club International said, His Excellency, Sen. (Prof.) Ben Ayade is committed to ensure blindness and other eye-related diseases are reduced to its barest minimum with the provision of a piece of land free of charge to ensure this beautiful project is actualized.
Dr. Inyang added that the state Government in collaboration with Tulsi Chanri Foundation will continue to send Doctors and Nurses for in service training to have expertise skill in eye management in India and the State will get more sophisticated with the state-of-the-art equipment being brought in.
While donating the eye complex to the General Hospital Calabar, the District Governor of Lions District 404 A2, Lion (Eng.) Oto-Abasi Ansa gave kudos to Cross River State Government for addressing the Eye problems of residents of the State and their neighboring communities that stormed the hospital daily, he opined that Lions club will continue to meet the needs of local communities and the world everyday.
