There are indications that rays of lights are beginning to shine on the abandoned state football teams — Rovers Football Club of Calabar and the Pelican FC, as Cross River renown billionaire philanthropist, Engineer Ben Akak did not only recently gift the team N500, 000 to aide their transportation for their match, but also promised to splashed another one million Naira on the teams whether they win their match or not.
According to a report gathered by our correspondent, the president of Ben Akak Foundation had earlier in the year supported the team with a token of N500, 000. While redeeming his N1, 000,000 promise to the team, the sport loving philanthropist said as a way of encouragement, he will be dinning with the players this weekend.
It should be recalled that NEGROIDHAVEN had severally published how the teams are poorly funded by the state government and on several occasions couldn't attend away matches due to lack of funds. The recent interest the president of Ben Akak Foundation Hass shown on the team could be the beginning of better days for the teams.
