Grace Bassey emerges PDP councillor candidate in Bakassi against 28th March LG polls in C/River

Grace Bassey has emerged the People’s Democratic Party PDP Councillor candidate for Ward 7 in Bakassi Local Government Area (LGA) in Cross River State. This is part of the build up to the 28th March 2020 statewide local government area elections. 
Our correspondent learnt that Bassey emerged the PDP councillorship candidate with 18 votes in a mock primary election which took place at Ward 7 Bakassi LGA on Saturday 18th January 2020 in a contest among the following aspirants: Bassey Grace Etim, Walter Umo Okon and Rita Emmanuel Effiom. 
Before the primary election proper, Bassey in her manifesto disclosed that that she is passionate about service to humanity and if given the opportunity to represent the people of Ward 7 will be able to speak their language at the Council Secretariat. She promised to partner civil society organisations CSOs and non governmental organisations NGOs to address the developmental needs of members of the constituency. 
Her exact words, ‘Communication is the key: I will communicate constantly with members of my Ward through zonal meetings in order to know their problems as well as profer solution in my own little ability or communicate back to the Chairman of the Council.

‘In terms of Partnership: I will partner with some NGOs to organise capacity building training for youths both males and females’, she said. 
However, after the manifesto presentation, Effiom stepped back from the contest supporting the candidature of Bassey. 
Present at the occasion were 15 ward EXCOs, 1 chapter representative, 2 ward leaders and 1 aspirant, with other official witnesses particularly Hon. Stanley Edet a former chapter chairman Bakassi, Hon. Maurice Efio-ase former councillor/ leader of ward who also represented other leaders of the ward, namely, Hon Austine Ibok and Chief Dr Eneyo.
