Today I joined over a million Cross Riverians across the 18 local government areas of the state to perform my civic right and responsibility in voting for the candidates of my choice in the state's local government elections.
I was not only privileged to have been accredited and given a chance to cast my votes at about 10:12AM but also to have supervised and monitored the compliance to the state government's measures in curbing the spread of infectious diseases.
I must congratulate the Cross River State Governor, Senator Professor Ben Ayade for giving Cross Riverians and residents here the privilege to exercise their franchise in the choice of their leaders in an election which was devoured of any form of violence.
As you all know, our Agency, the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, is strictly focused on the provision of quality, affordable and accessible healthcare to those considered to be ranked in the lowest pyramid of society.
Coincidentally, today's election (Chairmanship and councilorship) is aimed at producing grassroot leaders, who can make community based laws, promote social, health and economic well being of our people and it will be a privilege to work with you all in providing the best healthcare for our people.
We in the Primary Healthcare Agency are willing to collaborate with all 18  local Government Area Council chairmen and the 196 wards councillors to improve health services to our people in line with the vision of His Excellency, senator Professor Ben Ayade in making health care accessible to our people and in line with our vision to attain universal health coverage in the nearest future.
Once again, congratulations to the Government of Cross River State, the Governor, Senator Professor Ben Ayade, the state electoral commission (CROSIEC) and all Cross Riverians in this well conducted and coordinated elections.
Congratulations to the 18 local government chairmen and 196 ward councillors.
Long live your leadership as I wish you all a productive tenure.
Dr Janet Ekpenyong
Director General, Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency.
30th May 2020.
