High Court in Calabar bars NLC in C/River from proceeding on industrial action

A High Court sitting in Calabar, presided over by Hon. Justice Elias Abua has given an interim injunction restraining members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Cross River State Chapter, from proceeding on their planned industrial Action in the state NEGROIDHAVEN has confirmed.
The order restraining the NLC in Cross River State from embarking on the said  planned strike was given on June 22, 2020, and obtained in suit no HC/ 164/2020 filed by the Government of Cross River State and the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, barrister Tanko Ashang, against the Nigeria Labour Congress.
Justice Abua's ruling of June 22, 2020 barred the Nigeria Labour Congress from proceeding on its planned strike on June 23, 2020 or any other day pending the determination of motion on notice or the 14 days the order will last if the motion is not determined.
Labour had planned an industrial action to protest some issues but the state Government feels Labour has not complied with statutory provisions prerequisite to embarking on a strike.
