PROFESSOR Augustine Angbah, the Vice Chancellor of University of Cross River State, UNICROSS, on Wednesday warned matriculating students against indulging in examination malpractice, prostitution and financial scamming popularly known as yahoo yahoo or face the wrath of the law NEGROIDHAVEN has garnered.

Angba who handed down the warning while addressing the four thousand, six hundred and four students admitted for the 2021/22 academic year during the 19th matriculation ceremony said the event was not just for wearing academic grown and showcasing victory over JAMB but an initiation into a place where intellect is horned and ignorance is replaced with knowledge.

“This ceremony marks your entry into a place where erstwhile unquestioned ideas are turned into intellectual quest, a place where ignorance is replaced with knowledge and you grow into a man or woman of impeccable character for the purpose of enhancing humanity”.

He said the school authorities would not hesitate to show those who fall out of line with the rules and regulations the way out but in the same vein those who are ready to excell academically would be helped to achieve their dreams.

“It is petinent to note that education is a choice and if you are not willing to learn nobody can force you but if you are determined to learn nobody can stop you.

“You have entered here, let nothing keep you away from leaving here with honour and glory at the appropriate time”.

He called on the students to reject cultism, Yahoo Yahoo, prostitution and unlawful associations that will take them out of their dreams.

“Refuse to listen to those, both staff and students, who propagate the idea that you can only have good grades through sorting as this is not true and the University condemns this in strong terms”.

He said he is committed to ensuring that UNICROSS retains the culture of excellence for which it is known.
