Consultation Tour: Sen. Otu meets Obubra, Abi, Etung stakeholders

The consultation and thank you train of the All Progressives Congress gubernatorial candidate in Cross River State, Sen Prince Bassey Edet Otu, has arrived Obubra and Abi LGAs of the state in continuation of his tour of the Central Senatorial District. 

Sen. Otu who met with traditional rulers council of the LGAs, was welcomed by the Paramount rulers, where he received blessings from the royal fathers.

In his speech, paramount ruler of Obubra, HRM Louis Enyam, while welcoming the governorship hopeful, assured him of their support and prayers, insisting that the goodwill of Sen. Otu is known to all Cross Riverians.

At the reception held at the local government council secretariat, Sen. Otu said it was necessary to return to thank the people of Obubra and Abi LGAs for their support during the APC gubernatorial primaries held in Calabar few months ago. “let me thank you, my dear people for standing behind me during the primaries. You did all that out of your conviction and confidence in me even without giving you anything”.

Sen. Otu who used the occasion to clear the erroneous notion that his popularity is as a result of his generosity emphasized “my popularity is not just about my generosity, but capacity. I relate with all Cross Riverian despite where you come from, as long as you are from Cross River State. That is the basis and source of my support. I love people and I believe in people”

Former Senate leader, Victor Ndoma Egba, SAN who spoke at the event said “we in the central senatorial district, we believe it is the turn of the south. I served the central senatorial district for 12 years as a senator and I was focused, but some people have not even finished their first term in the Senate where we sent them, they want to be governor.

“They call themselves caterpillar, but caterpillar is man made. Ours is a natural phenomenon, spearheaded by the people. If you keep a caterpillar here and there is an earthquake, what will happen is that the caterpillar will sink to the earth”.

The former Senate leader who emphasized on the character of Sen. Otu said, “Otu does not only have character, he is also an embodiment of intelligence, experience and capacity. I can testify to this because I served with him at the National Assembly.

“We in the central senatorial district believe in justice and fairness, we are not greedy people. That is why I can say that at exactly 10:05am on May 29, 2023, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu will be sworn in as the Governor of Cross River state”.

In his entourage were his wife, Mrs Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, the Deputy Governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, the leadership of the APC in the state, led by the State Chairman represented by the Deputy State Chairman, Hon. Eka William and members of the State working committee, Director General of his campaign organisation H.E. Amb. Soni Abang, Chief Peter Ojie, Hon. Julius Okpotu, High Chief Edem Duke, Sen. Victor Ndoma Egba, Ntufam Fidelis Ugbo, Bishop Alex Ukam, among other critical stakeholders.

 

 

… Bassey continues consultative visit to Etung, Ikom Stakeholders

Sen. Prince Bassey Otu has met with stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Etung and Ikom local government areas in continuation of his consultation and thank you tour to the central region of the state

At Etung LGA, The All Progressives Congress gubernatorial candidate, Sen Prince Bassey Otu who was received by a tumultuous crowd was conferred with a chieftaincy title of “Nnyene Nmon Akonfam” (a good child is loved by the community) by the traditional rulers council of Etung LGA.

The conferment was done by the acting Paramount Ruler of Etung LGA, Ntufam Raphael Agbor at the traditional rulers council hall in Efrayah, the LGA headquarters.

The gubernatorial hopeful also recieved royal blessings from the royal fathers in support of the 2023 project.

In his welcome address, The Chairman of Etung LGA, Hon. John Etuk expressed delight at the visit of Sen. Otu and his team, He thanked Gov. Ben Ayade for keeping to his promise of back-to-South and ensuring a peaceful transition on the basis of equity and fairness. He noted that Etung has asked the PDP candidate who is a son of Etung to wait for the turn of the central senatorial district, “for us in Etung, you are already the governor, your visit to Etung is your swearing in.

In his remarks, Prof. Anthony Owan Enoh, eulogized Sen. Otu’s qualities in leadership and human capital development, he said “I’ve never seen a man as good as Sen Otu; he is completely detribalized, he loves people and is experienced with quality leadership skills, with Prince Otu, development has come to Etung.

In Ikom LGA, one of the economic hubs in the State, Sen. Otu was received by the Paramount Ruler and traditional council, Council Chairman, political appointees, APC stakeholders, party faithful and several hundreds of sons and daughters of Ikom.

A prominent son of Ikom who spoke in the event, Sen. Victor Ndoma Egba said Otu is a man of character, “Your character in leadership, in empowerment is what the State needs right now. It is the turn of the South; We in the central are solidly behind you”. He assured him of massive support come 2023.

Responding, Sen Prince Otu expressed gratitude to the people for the rousing reception, the warmth, hospitality and show of love: “I’m here to thank you for your support and the role you played in my emergence in the Party primaries”.

“In cross River State today, we need a man with experience, a man who can open doors in locally and internationally, a man with overwhelming popularity and support across the the three senatorial district. You decided i was best suited to be your flagbearer and you made it happen”

“The basis of my philosophy is humanity, I want to assure you that we will take our State to the next level”

“To the delegates, thank you is not enough, you gave me your support even without any financial inducement. Your confidence in me is a debt i will repay in ensuring we bequeath a State of our dreams” he said.

The gubernatorial hopeful was accompanied the leadership of the APC in the State, led by the State Chairman represented by the Deputy State Chairman, Hon. Eka William and members of the state working committee, including his wife Mrs Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, the Deputy Governorship Candidate, the Director General of his Campaign Organisation, H.E. Amb. Soni Abang, High Chief Prof. Etim Nyong, High Chief Edem Duke, Chief Ernest Irek, Chief Tony Udiandeye, Ntufam John Okon, Prof. Micheal Okom, Hon Julius Okputu, Bishop Alex Ukam among several other critical stakeholders.
