CALABAR — The African Democratic Congress is gaining increased visibility in Etung/Obubra Federal Constituency following the formal declaration of Obah Edom Tawo as a House of Representatives aspirant ahead of the 2027 general elections NEGROIDHAVEN can report.

Tawo, who declared his intention to contest at an event held in Bendeghe Ekiem, Etung Local Government Area of Cross River State, drew a large and diverse crowd of supporters, signalling what observers described as growing grassroots interest in the party within the constituency.

The declaration, held at the Bendeghe Town Council Hall, attracted attendees from across various wards, including Ajassor and Nsofang, with participants comprising youths, women, elders, farmers and traders.

Supporters were seen adorned in the party’s orange colours, waving banners and chanting slogans in support of the aspirant, whose campaign message, “The Time for Service to the People is Now,” featured prominently throughout the event.

Political observers noted that the turnout and ward-level representation at the gathering pointed to an expanding organisational reach for the ADC in an area traditionally dominated by more established parties.

Speaking during the event, Tawo engaged the crowd with remarks centred on service, community connection and inclusive representation, drawing repeated applause from attendees.

The event also reflected a level of coordination, with prior notification reportedly sent to relevant authorities, including security agencies and party leadership, ensuring structured conduct throughout the programme.

Analysts say the development may signal an emerging shift in local political dynamics as alternative platforms seek to build support ahead of the next electoral cycle.

With increasing mobilisation activities and visible grassroots engagement, the ADC appears to be positioning itself as a contender in the Etung/Obubra Federal Constituency race.
