The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ATMPress Nigeria Limited, Amb. David Ayoka Atim, has called on the Cross River State and Federal Governments to improve road safety measures and infrastructure following the recent auto accident involving students of the University of Cross River State.
Atim made the call on Tuesday during a solidarity visit to students receiving treatment in different hospitals after sustaining injuries in the crash which occurred on May 1, 2026.
The students were reportedly returning from a friendly football match against the University of Uyo in Akwa Ibom State when the accident happened.
During the visit, Atim met with the injured students, encouraged them to remain strong, prayed with them, and presented support items to assist their recovery.
He described the incident as unfortunate and stressed the need for urgent interventions to prevent similar occurrences.
“At a time like this, we must place value on human lives and take deliberate steps to improve road safety across the country,” he said.
He urged relevant authorities to strengthen safety measures on highways and improve transport infrastructure, particularly on routes frequently used by students and commuters.
The visit formed part of ongoing support efforts for the victims following the accident, which sparked concerns over road safety and emergency response.
