Speaking with journalists during the PDP Cross River Congress held in Calabar, Ibor dismissed suggestions that he could become an isolated voice in the Assembly if elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Responding to questions on how he intended to function in a legislature dominated by other political interests, the PDP candidate insisted that he would enjoy the backing of the people and civil society organisations committed to good governance and accountability.

“I will not be a lone voice. I have the people who will elect me as the people who will support me till tomorrow,” he said.

“My mantra has always been taking the battle to the enemy,” he said, while stressing that he would not be distracted from his political objectives.

Ibor further criticised what he described as weak opposition and ineffective legislative oversight in the state, arguing that democracy thrives when elected representatives critically examine government policies and programmes.

The PDP candidate said the absence of strong legislative scrutiny had contributed to governance challenges and underdevelopment, insisting that lawmakers must prioritise the interests of citizens above personal gain.
