The Coalition of Cross River State Youth has inaugurated its Obanliku and Bekwara Local Government Area chapters, in a move aimed at strengthening its grassroots structure and deepening youth participation across the state.
The inauguration of the Obanliku chapter, which included ward coordinators, was conducted during a strategic visit by the coalition’s leadership, led by its Director General, Hon. Etem Okimba.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, David Adrian, on Wednesday COCRISY said the exercise reflected its commitment to building an organised, responsive and politically conscious youth network capable of contributing effectively to community development and progressive leadership.
The visit, according to the statement, also provided an opportunity for the coalition’s leadership to engage with young people and stakeholders in Obanliku, reinforcing the importance of unity, grassroots mobilisation, responsible leadership and active participation in the political process.
On Thursday, the coalition replicated the exercise in Bekwara LGA, inaugurating its chapter executives and ward coordinators.
Speaking at the Bekwara inauguration, the newly inaugurated LGA Coordinator, Comr. Joseph Ushie, expressed appreciation to Okimba and the COCRISY leadership for the confidence reposed in him and his team.
Ushie pledged to lead with dedication, transparency and inclusiveness, promising to work closely with ward coordinators and other stakeholders to strengthen the coalition’s presence at the grassroots.
He assured the leadership that the Bekwara chapter would remain committed to COCRISY’s objectives, particularly in mobilising and engaging young people, strengthening grassroots participation, and contributing positively to the development of Cross River State.
Under Okimba’s leadership, COCRISY said it continues to consolidate its presence across the 18 local government areas, with a clear focus on empowering young Cross Riverians and building a stronger platform for youth engagement.
