Without irrefutable evidence, the challenges that our Nation has faced as it regards the incessant rate of moral violence and other insurgencies is that which have proven to be disheartening as they often times necessitates hot tears.

Sometimes, we are tempted to ask whether the Devil himself now dwells in most Men especially when we hear some of the moral decadence and Atrocities which Man performs on his fellow Man.

Not until recently across the media, there have been cases of Rape and other associated violence that accompanies it. One wonders why the perpetrators of these inhumane act cannot have a re-think and turn from their evil acts.
Reports reaching us from PUNCH Newspapers has it that..

The residents of Omojoda Community in the Adamo, Ikorodu area of Lagos have organised a search party to apprehend a middle-aged man, identified as Segun, aka Mago, who allegedly raped three girls before fleeing the area.

According to the report, the police at the Sagamu Road Division and the Area N Command, Ijede, where the residents reported the matter, have also launched a manhunt for the suspected rapist.

Our correspondent gathered that the suspect, after allegedly raping his victims, cleaned the mess with a white handkerchief before bringing the girls back home.

New information from the Baale, Alhaji Adebola Kazeem, alleged that Segun also belonged to a dreaded cult, and that he had brought his gang members to rob the residents on several occasions.

In the words of the Baale 6 , “It is not only in Omojoda that the man raped young girls. We believe he is also a cultist because he has led a gang to rob us several times.

Reports got to us that he also raped some girls in the neighbouring Imure and Isiwu areas.

“If the police do not arrest him, there is fear that he might rape more young girls. Another thing he does is to clean the mess with a handkerchief. It was since the last rape incident on Friday, April 17, that he fled the area.

“The community is looking for him to hand him over to the police. What he now does is to send his gang to rob residents. Last week, a man’s motorcycle was snatched in the early morning, and another woman returning from her shop was robbed.”

From interactions with our Source (PUNCH Metro), the mother of one of the victims, Adijat Akande, said she had sent her daughter on an errand in the area, but was shocked when she learnt that the girl had been kidnapped.

She said, “Whenever I sent her out at night, I would give her money to take a motorcycle. Fortunately on that day, she went with a phone. When I expected her to return, I tried her number, but it kept on saying ‘user busy’. Later, a boy named Samuel ran to our house and raised the alarm that my daughter had been kidnapped.

“We began to search everywhere for her. After about an hour, we saw her staggering home. She slumped in front of the community mosque. When I rushed her to a private hospital, she was rejected and we were referred to a government hospital.

“When we got to Ikorodu that night, we were asked to come back the following day as they had a lot of emergencies. It was that same night that I reported to the police station.”

The teenager, who spoke briefly with our correspondent, said Segun threatened to kill her if she raised the alarm.

She said, “He came on a motorcycle and met me at a junction. He said I should climb the motorcycle and that if I shouted, he would kill me. So, we went away to a bush in the Aleke area where he did it.”

In a medical report from the General Hospital, Ikorodu, on April 20, 2015, signed by one Dr. Junaid, and obtained by PUNCH Metro, the incident was confirmed.

“Upon examination, it was found that a young girl is in distress. No seminal fluid or bloodstains was found on her thighs or vulva, and hymen not intact,” the report read.

When our correspondent got to the suspect’s house, his mother, who declined to give her name, said she had not seen Segun since the day of the incident.

She said, “I dont have much explanation. I have not seen him since the day of the incident. Whether he did it or not, that is left to God.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, said he would get back to our correspondent on the matter. He, however, had yet to get back as of press time.
