The Member representing Ogoja State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon Peter Odey has called on Companies operating  in the State to live up to their corporate social responsibility of providing the basic needs of their host communities.

Hon Odey urged the companies to embrace some responsibility, while reacting to a bill sponsored by Hon Hilary Bisong on the Cross River Corporate Social Responsibility 2015.

He said it was common knowledge that to whom much is given much is expected. That companies in the State should contribute their quarter towards the development of their host communities.

He further opined that it was important for companies in the State to liaise with the people on the needs of the people by having a dialogue with their host communities.

Hon Odey said the bill was coming at a time where the State is in dire need of continued support from corporate entities in order to meet up with the yearning of the Cross River People. He lauded the sponsor of the bill for a well thought out initiative.
